How can parents prioritize the quality of their child’s clothing when there is a constantly evolving mass market? Readily available children’s clothing tends to fade, wear out, and fall apart quickly. Trends move quickly resulting in a fast fashion market where things are meant to be on trend, not long-lasting. The materials used and cheap prices often mean it’s easier and more budget-friendly to replace items frequently than it is to repair them. Clothing is then thrown away after a short lifespan. This type of market creates endless waste and a world in which our wardrobe is seen as disposable.
Silly Goose Kids aims to create clothing and accessories made with quality fabrics, elastic, trims, and buttons that can withstand playing and washing. Details like reinforced knees and adjustable waistbands leave room to grow and play. When possible, repurposed materials like buttons and lining fabrics will be used to reduce waste and make each item one of a kind. All items will be made by hand in New Hampshire, and the fabric used will be made and printed in the USA. These pieces of clothing will last through lots of playtime, and can even be handed down to other siblings.
Made stitch by stitch for your silly goose.
Hi there! I’m Sam — mama, designer, and stitcher behind Silly Goose Kids. I learned to sew from my grandmother at 15 and went on to earn a B.A. in Fashion Design and Production. Before starting Silly Goose, I worked as a stitcher at the Boston Ballet, making costumes and tutus — experiences that taught me the joy of thoughtful, precise craftsmanship.
Now, I run my sunny, solar-powered home studio in New Hampshire, creating small-batch clothes with 100% cotton fabrics, repurposed buttons, and locally-thrifted trims whenever possible. Each piece is designed to be durable, playful, and loved — built to last long enough to become a treasured hand-me-down.
When I’m not in the studio, I love spending time with my husband Aric, our two kids Felix and Ivy, and our dogs Kiwi and Bowser. I’m a fan of board games, video games with Aric, traveling, trying new crafts, and hunting down the best sushi, ramen, and tea.
Thank you for supporting my mama-powered dream. I hope these clothes bring joy to your Silly Goose, just as much as creating them brings joy to me.
